THE OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER OF THE NATIONAL SOCCER COACHES ASSOCIATION OF CANADA

Monday April 3, 2017

The NSCAC Has Returned!

Spring has finally sprung across Canada and with this new season comes the re-launch of the National Soccer Coaches Association of Canada (NSCAC). Following a period of strategic analysis and market research, the NSCAC is ready once again to represent the Canadian soccer coaching community. We'd like to extend our thanks to all the coaches that participated in our questionnaire earlier this year and, to those that also took the time to offer their services, we thank you very much. We have already been in touch with some of you to determine your areas of interest and expertise and we will be calling on you to help us shape the new NSCAC.

What is the NSCAC? It is a non-profit, member-based organization created to provide soccer coaches across Canada with educational opportunities, services, benefits and a collective voice. The NSCAC represents coaches at all levels of the game in Canada, from grassroots volunteers to full time professionals. It is our objective to provide those coaches with opportunities for personal and professional advancement.

Under the guidance of our President, Tony Waiters (pictured below), the NSCAC will strive to be the most authoritative and representative organization for soccer coaches across Canada, with a mandate to support and promote their collective efforts. To be a part of this community, join the NSCAC now by going to our new website, nscac.ca and completing the online membership application.

The Journal for Soccer Coaches

Posted 04/01/17

In the questionnaire, we asked what were among the most important benefits you were seeking from a national association. More than 80% of our respondents felt a journal, published exclusively for coaches, would be the most essential item in their membership benefits.

We listened and we are pleased to inform you that the inaugural issue of the NSCAC's official publication, "The Journal for Soccer Coaches" (cover picture at left), has just been printed and will be distributed to member coaches this week.

The 40-page Spring edition features a full length interview with Canada Soccer's new Director of Development Jason deVos. In addition, the Journal offers contributions from noted international coaches and coach educators who share training tips, session plans and opinions.

Upon its release, a full digital version of the Journal will also be available at nscac.ca.

If you are interested in submitting a contribution to the Fall 2017 issue of the Journal, or if you would like to inquire about advertising, please contact the Managing Editor, Alf De Blasis at alfdeblasis@gmail.com.

Membership Application & "Kickoff Clinic" Registration

Posted 04/01/17

As mentioned, your 2017/18 membership application is now available online at our new website nscac.ca. For a limited time, upon registration, member coaches will be granted an automatic 4-month extension to their first year of membership, meaning their personalized membership card will expire after 16 months.

Once you become a NSCAC member, you may register for our first official FREE "Kickoff Clinic", scheduled for Sat May 6 in Thornhill, ON. Our special guest clinician is Kevin McGreskin (pictured at left), Technical Director of Burlington Youth Soccer Club and the former Technical Director of the Bahamas Football Association.

Kevin, the founder of SOCCEReyeQ, will be conducting a session on "Developing Field Vision and Game Awareness". Joining Kevin at the clinic will be sport scientist Richard Bucciarelli, President of Soccer Fitness Inc., and NSCAC Director of Coaching Kosmas Mouratidis.

Name this Newsletter!

The NSCAC would like you to give this newsletter a name. We want you to be an active participant in all our correspondence so we thought we would give you, the Canadian soccer coaching community, the opportunity to name your newsletter.

Send us as many titles as you can think of as often as you like and we will narrow it down to the most popular names. We'll then conduct an online poll of the three most popular choices and allow you to decide the winner. The contributor of the winning name will receive a special NSCAC prize package! Only registered NSCAC members are eligible to win the prize.

Please submit your names to the Journal's Managing Editor Alf De Blasis at alfdeblasis@gmail.com and please add "NSCAC Newsletter Contest" to the subject line.

Good Luck!
